This I Believe

Everyday I see something that I am not in consideration with. Its either something I don’t like or something that maybe I am not used to. But the most, in my opinion, annoying and rudest thing I see is disrespect. I see people of all ages and races do this. Children, teen’s adults. White, black Hispanic and Asian. Just everything. They go around not caring what they do. They live in their own little world just not caring and disrespecting.

I believe in respect. Respect for elders, family, and women/girls. Just in general respect for everyone and for myself.

As a child I was brought up to respect my elders, my family, and girls/women. I was never to raise my voice or talk back, and to this day I try my hardest to continue with what I have been thought. And when I do mess up and disrespect I feel bad and try to stop myself and think back and reflect and try not to do it again.

Once as a child, I don’t know wha ha happen, but it was pretty stupid. So I guess I was just mad or something but my mom was saying to me, because I had done something bad, and out of the blue I told her to shut up, and man, do I regret that. I got my ass whooped, and from that day on I have never talked back or been disrespectful to my mom.

Now as a young adult growing up, I see the world a lot differently. I see how the world can be disrespectful. But me knowing a difference and being raised in something different, I try not to do those things. I try to be different. This is what I believe. I believe that I should be respectful at all times, even if the others around me are not.

  1. I respectfully have to say, good for you. This is a thoughtful piece with a great straightforward and important point. I like how at the end you add a little to your belief, that even if those around may not be respectful, you still will be, or are. Sounds like you've learned from some good people in your life. Good job. You are a writer.

  2. I really like the concept of your writing. Especially the fact that it's completely true. I'm glad you choose to be different from others.
Your idea is terrific and the organization too, but you had common errors such as punctuation and missing letters in a few words. All in all, good job! =)

  3. Nice one man. The whole concept of respect is important. There are a lot of people in the world who don't give a damn about respect and go around proving it. That's something I can't handle. The part about you telling your mom to shut up but then learning from your mistake is something I can relate to, however it was me accidentally telling a member of my family I was gonna kick their ass.

  4. David, first I would like to say...6 floooooo. second, I think you did a good job on talking about respect, since a lot of people don't really seem to care about it a lot these days. I know where you're coming from when you say you were raised up to respect other people because my family taught me the same thing and I think its a good thing to write about. We all deserve respect.
Good job. You are a writer.

  5. I really like your essay. I was brought up to respect my elders and just anyone in general. No matter what race or age. You picked a really good thing to write about.
